A little update from Basel

A lot has happened between the day I spent in Paris and our spontaneous trip to Lake Constance. Here are a few of those things:

֎ I didn’t go to the Symposium on Early English Drama & Performance in Fribourg that I was so looking forward to. I arrived home from Paris with a bit of a cold and the next day couldn’t get out of bed, where I stayed for 3 days.

֎ I went to London for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show. It was amazing! I haven’t had time to write about that yet though (but did overload Instagram with photos of flowers) because when I got back I immediately had to get to work.

֎ While in London I also got to spend lots of time with my very fun friend and his fiancé, who was in town for his UK book launch. Check out this awesome guy and read his book!

֎ Speaking of being published, The Antigonish Review published my travel memoir Sweet as Lemons in their latest issue (#196) – you can buy it here!

֎ I completed my Local History course, though I have not received my final marks. I spent parts of May and all of June writing the final assignment and submitted it one day early, mostly because I was tired of re-reading it. But I am so happy to be done!

֎ We have also had some difficult times which I won’t get into on the blog, but as a result I also missed the Hay Festival this year. Maybe next year . . .

Fortunately I have a lot to look forward to in the near future and am now beginning to prepare for my next trip. This takes a bit more effort than usual as I will be away for fifty-five days and nights with only a medium sized suitcase and two laptops . . . well let’s see how that goes!

Please subscribe to this blog to follow along on my travels and for the pending post on my trip to London and Cardiff back in May. And please leave me comments so I know you’re there!
